Devil’s Due is yet another addition to the ever-growing found footage horror genre and pretty much yet another completely useless one. It deals with an expectant young couple - played by Zach Gilford and Allison Miller – who get into trouble as the wife’s delivery date gets closer.

Trouble begins after a weird last night during their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic where a very friendly cab driver takes the couple to an underground party in a seedy part of town. Hubby and wife both drink too much, pass out and wake up in their hotel room without knowing how they got back there. When they get home, she finds out she’s pregnant and then slowly (very slowly) things get weirder. Now, any pregnant woman has mood swings but this one gets a bit violent and previously a vegetarian, she pulls a 180 when it comes to meat and starts devouring raw meat. Throw in an obstetrician who goes missing and a priest with a severe nosebleed and you know something has to be very wrong.

Even though the husband is filming everything, it doesn’t dawn on him to check the footage to see what’s happened until the movie’s final act. Of course then it’s way too late… bot for him and my attention span. This movie lasts a little under an hour and a half but nothing much happens until about an hour in. Say what you will about building tension but this is taking it too far. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett both worked on V/H/S and while that should have set off alarm bells in my head, I went into this one willingly. Don’t make the same mistake!
