Season 8 of Modern Family picks up where season 7 left off… the Dunphys are wrapping up their trip in NYC, Cam and Mitchell are stuck in Missouri until Cam’s grandma kicks the bucket and Jay, Gloria and Manny are attending a cousin’s wedding in Mexico. But of course everything goes wrong… the Dunphy kids and parents both stay longer in NYC, unbeknownst to each other. Mitchell gets blamed when Cam’s grandma dies and the Pritchetts must flee the wedding when Gloria is afraid to confront her cousin Sonia. Hilarity ensues.

Modern Family may have started off as a refreshing and incredibly witty sitcom, but this last season shows severe signs of fatigue. Storylines seem to be rehashed and characters don’t develop as they are being used as a vehicle to land yet another punchline. Granted, there are still great jokes to be found in every episode, but just as many – if not more – stale ones. I'm not sure how much longer they will want to keep dragging this out, but Modern Family isn't feeling quite as modern as it used to.
