A bunch of desperate men led by divorced dad José decide to rob a cash-for-gold shop dressed as Jesus, a soldier, Minnie Mouse and SpongeBob SquarePants. They make it out with a bag full of gold and head for France in a taxi whose driver decides to throw it in with them. Things take a turn for the decidedly unlucky however when they end up stranded in a small town where witches rule.

That’s about as much sense as this story ever makes so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this movie comes from the demented mind of Spanish bad boy Alex de la Iglesia. What starts out as a heist movie, quickly turns into something else entirely as the men get trapped in a mansion with a bunch of raving mad women and have to fight their way out. Sounds familiar? The premise of “Whining & Bitching” does kinda resemble “From Dusk Till Dawn” while the ending leans towards “The Wicker Man” but the movie gets away with it because it is a lot of fun to watch. Sure, the characters’ decisions and changes of heart don’t make a helluva lot of sense and the CGI effects at the end aren’t quite up to Hollywood standards, but it makes for a good time to see de la Iglesia cram all of his nastiness in this horror comedy.
