Two years after they made a comeback with “Macabre Eternal”, San Francisco’s death metallers are back with “The Headless Ritual”. Don’t expect any surprises… Autopsy still do what they do best, which is writing sluggish death metal tunes that come with some doom and grind elements. Meanwhile vocalist Chris Reifert is screaming, gurgling, rasping and shouting seemingly at random. I’m not sure what he’s going on about but I’m pretty sure it’s not the kind of stuff you want to whisper in your girlfriend’s ear during a romantic outing.

Few bands manage to sound as filthy as these guys… I don’t know how they manage to do it but while I was listening to tracks like “Slaughter At Beast House” or “Mangled Far Below”, I swear the smell of decay came from my iPod and all of a sudden there was some grime caked to my screen.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
