Out of Seattle comes Big Eyes, a three-piece that takes what they like from pop-punk and garage rock with additional guitar licks lifted straight out of the classic rock songbook and then pour all that in these ridiculously catchy songs. Those songs come with female vocals courtesy of Kate Eldridge, who you might remember from the band Cheeky. If not, just know that she sounds like someone who could give you a cuddle as easily as she could kick you in the balls.

As soon as “Nothing You Could Say” bursts out of the speakers, you’ll be hard-pressed not to start tapping your feet. I know I didn’t stop until the last notes of “You Ain’t The Only One” rung out. It’s not like they’re breaking any new ground here… the formula has been tried and tested but as long as it gives us albums such as this one, who are we to bitch about it?

“Almost Famous” is the band’s sophomoric album and is out now on Grave Mistake Records. Don’t miss out on it if you’re into Terrible Feelings, Cheap Girls,…

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
