Broken Gold, the side-project of Riverboat Gamblers guitarist Ian MacDougall, is back with a new EP called “Residency At Hundo Beach”. The six songs on here are a little less raucous than your average Gamblers tune or any of Mike Wiebe’s other projects but they’re definitely worthy of your time if you’re into something more dreamy.

It becomes obvious right from the start that MacDougall likes to spend a fair amount of time gazing at his shoes… the Smiths, Swervedriver… they’re all there along with a little Dinosaur Jr and some Guided By Voices mixed in for good taste. It makes for some fine tuneage like the wavering “Life Of The Machine” and the mellow and very aptly titled “Let Go”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
