Cassettes are annoying. No one can be this bright and happy all the time, right? God, now they are even putting a smile on my face.

Armed with a sound that is heavily indebted to 90ies pop-punk and pop-rock, Philadelphia’s Cassettes have hooks for days and are extremely poppy without ever becoming nauseating. It’s a fine line to walk, but they walk it exceptionally well on songs like ‘She Gets What She Wants’, ‘Love Songs On The Radio’ and the sax-enhanced ‘Terrible Hair’. Did i already mention they are kinda poppy? Think Drive-Thru records bands like FenixTX or Allister meets the ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ soundtrack.

Produced by Ace Enders (The Early November) and Nik Bruzzese (Man Overboard) and mixed by Vince Ratti (Brand New, The Wonder Years, The Menzingers), every single song on ‘Wild Heart’ is polished to perfection, which only helps make the band’s pop sensibilities shine even brighter.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
