Firmly believing that less is indeed more, Colleen Green keeps things simple on “Sock It To Me”. The songs on here are as grungy as they are poppy and rarely consist of more than three power chords, a drum machine and Green’s subdued vocals. Kinda like Best Coast playing Ramones covers. Her lyrics are equally simple with songs about bad boyfriends, good boyfriends and mean friends. It’s hard to make things more uncomplicated than this. That’s okay though because what these songs lack in grand gestures, they more than make up for in the charm department.

Why does she use a drum computer? Because she doesn’t know how to play the drums. Why only three chords? Because she probably doesn’t know them all. And why would she learn more chords or how to play the drums when she gets by just fine this way? It would only cut in on her smoking time.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
