Following up on 2022’s ‘Heavy Steps,’ Comeback Kid is once again at it with what I believe is their first ever EP. Despite being just four songs long and clocking in at a little over 12 minutes, ‘Trouble’ has no problem stepping in and getting the job done. The band has always been great at writing massive songs that are as ferocious as they are catchy and with Andrew Neufeld, they have one of the best frontmen in the game. This EP is just further proof in case you still needed it.

While previously released single ‘Trouble In The Winners Circle’ is probably the band’s most poppy song to date and gives off nothing but good vibes, the other three cuts add more aggression to the mix with razor-sharp riffs and Neufeld’s commanding vocals. Which is exactly what you’d expect from songs called ‘Chompin’ At The Bit’ and ‘Breaking And Bruised’.

Four new songs may not seem like a lot. But as it turns out, it’s plenty for Comeback Kid to show that 20 years in they are still one of the best hardcore bands around.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
