Album Reviews
Diploma is a five-piece punk rock band out of Melbourne, who recently released a solid calling card in the form of the six-song EP “The Cost of Clarity”. Opening track “Macho” gets right down to it with some heavy riffing, shouted yet melodic vocals and excellent gang vocals to boot, before shifting down for the remainder of the song and fading out in a glorious jumbled distorted mess.
Both “Lauralie” and “End And End And End (Then Die)” are tasty slabs of punk rock, expertly executed and armed with the kind of chorus that you can belt along after having heard it just once. The same can be said for “Everything Is Repairable, It’s Whether Or Not It’s Worth Repairing,” which comes with a seriously strong Iron Chic vibe. There are worse band to be compared to, right?
