Meet Springfield, MO’s Dream Ritual, who have just released their self-titled EP on 6131 Records. These guys lunge straight into it with the 5+ minutes opening track “Green World”, which lingers somewhere between heavy grunge and post-hardcore with some pretty solid melodic hooks. It’s the kind of song you would not expect on a band’s debut EP.

Clocking in at 27 minutes, the six songs on here pulsate with groovy, meaty riffs and a rhythm section that keeps on plowing forward. Hell, that opening riff in “25” would have Alice In Chains nodding along approvingly. The one thing that would have this EP even better, was spicing things up and adding a little more variety in terms of tempo and vocal melodies. But hey, it’s a debut EP and I’m excited to see what else they will come up with in the future!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
