When I started listening to “Tethering”, I had to check my calendar to see if it was still 2014. This one has 90ies written all over it… in the best way possible! You’ll find influences of some of the greatest bands of that era all over the album: Dinosaur Jr, Lemonheads, Guided By Voices, Gin Blossoms,… they’re all in there somewhere. And the best thing is that Failures’ Union are not simply ripping them off,  they just took what they love best about those bands and then went on to do their own thing with it.

The result are thirteen solid rock songs.  Basically, “Tethering” is what you get when a band works hard, does exactly what they want to and love doing just that. Just one question… is it me just me or did anyone else hear a duck as well in “Hard To Sea”?

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
