Chicago’s Harm’s Way are back at it with a new chapter in their constantly shapeshifting trajectory. Morphing from powerviolence into something that can best be described as the Deathwish sound, the one constant is the fact that they are über-heavy.

That’s no different again on “Rust”, the band’s latest album. While keeping the sludgy, nasty as fuck riffs intact, they also found use for more keyboard-driven atmospherics this time around and end up sounding like a band that somehow miraculously survived the nu metal era. Honestly, Slipknot and even Mudvayne are never that far away. Neither is Sepultura come to think of it. If you like to get your ass pummeled into oblivion, “Rust” would be a good place to start. For me personally, there’s a limit to the amount of one-note breakdowns I can take.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
