Six years after their last album, the two-piece that is An Horse is back with album number three. ‘Modern Air’ is off to a good start with the energetic and poppy opener that is ‘This Is A Song’. It’s an immediate reminder that yes, they can still write... well, a song.
The same goes for most of the other tracks on ‘Modern Air’. Well, maybe not so much for the soundscape-y ‘Bob Ross (Be The Water),’ which doesn’t really do a lot. But there’s plenty to enjoy here with cuts like ‘Get Out Somehow’, ‘Breakfast’ and ‘Drown’. Sure, they all kinda sound the same. But they are urgent and poppy and if you are looking for a quick pick-me-up, then they have got you covered.
