Three years after “Avalanche United”, Vinnie Caruana and the rest of I Am The Avalanche are back with a new album called “Wolverines”. And just like that name served as a rally cry in Red Dawn, the songs on here will no doubt get your fists pumping as well. Produced by drummer Brett Romnes and mixed by Will Yip, these tracks sound great and come with plenty of energy and even more singalong moments.

Opener “Two Runaways” may start off as your regular 70ies rock ‘n roll song, but it doesn’t take long for the band to pick up the pace. After that, there’s no looking back as they race through nine more songs. All of them are short blasts of fast-paced hardcore-ish pop-punk tracks with plenty of hooks and Caruana’s trademark gritty vocals. Solid album from which I will mostly remember “177”, the emotionally laden “Anna Lee” that sounds like a runaway Alkaline Trio song and “My Lion Heart”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
