The name Imperial State Electric didn’t immediately ring any bells. But the name Nicke Andersson does. Because who hasn’t heard of the Hellacopters? After the demise of that band in 2008, Andersson started Imperial State Electric along with Tomas Eriksson, Tobias Edge and Dolf De Borst (The Datsuns). They released their debut in 2010, followed that one up with “Pop War” in 2012 which makes “Reptile Brain Music” album number three.

You get twelve rock ‘n roll tracks that sound like they could’ve been written in the 70ies. It’s nothing extremely refreshing but these guys have enough experience to know what works and what doesn’t. They don’t overcomplicate things, they just want to rock basically. And they do on songs like “Emptiness Into The Void” and the title track. Fun stuff!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
