Meet Past Life, a Brooklyn-based band that likes to rock out. They start things off gently on “EP I” with the instrumental “Ojai”, to kinda ease you into it. And sure, the song is nice enough, even if it lasts maybe just a little bit longer than it should have. But hey, it sets the mood.

And then “Sever Your Love” kicks in. It has a nice bounce to it along with fuzzed out guitars and killer hooks. All that in just under two minutes. Neat, right? Pretty much the same can be said about the other tracks on here. “Split The Ground” is equally rockin’ and offers an extra treat towards the end in the form of the sweetest little guitar solo. “Hate Bloomer” takes it down a notch and comes an extra layer of grunge flavor. “Losing Every Word” is – simply put - perfect and while “Jack Knife” does not quite manage to live up to its predecessor, it’s still very enjoyable with a ton of jacked up energy. After that, it’s left up to “Ojai 2”, a revisit to the opening track that’s all floaty and wavering, to see you out.

If you are into The Men, The Marked Men or other garage-y bands with Men in their name, there’s no way you are not going to enjoy the hell out of “EP I”. So when is “EP II” due?

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
