Even though Placeholder started out just two years ago, these guys already released two EPs and with “I Don’t Need Forgiveness” they’re already up to full-length number two as well. Driven? I’m leaning towards yes.

These guys play the kind of post-hardcore that gets me every single time. It rocks from start to finish, they’ve got a great sense of melody yet there’s always something jarring waiting for you right around the corner. The guitars come with a grungy vibe that makes me want to start wearing flannel again but at the same time Placeholder sounds very 2013. “Stay Here” sounds like a song Rivers Cuomo didn’t get round to writing just yet and “December 2011” and “One Year” are just examples of what good songs should sound like.

If you’re into bands like Balance & Composure, you should definitely give Placeholder a minute or two. They might not need forgiveness but I’m sure they could a couple of your hard-earned bucks so they can keep cranking out solid post-hardcore tunes.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
