Featuring singer-songwriter Jeff Rowe and members of Choke Up and Landmines, Tied To A Bear is something of a who’s who of the Boston underground music scene. These guys all teamed up Avengers-style to record ‘True Places’, a straight-up solid punk rock album with some hardcore flourishes.

With all four members writing and three of them sharing vocal duties, there are plenty of different vibes to be found throughout the album’s dozen songs. They switch seamlessly between the melodic pop-punk of ‘No Encore’, the Lawrence Arms-y ‘Change’ and ‘Sleaze’, the slower yet equally engaging ‘Melville’ and ‘300 Days’ and the pounding ‘Subject’, making ‘True Places’ a diverse yet surprisingly cohesive album that is sure to turn some heads.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
