After forming in college in 2007, LA-based Francisco the Man have been playing the kind of indie rock music made for the purist set. You won’t find much other than two guitars, bass, drums, maybe a keyboard, but their frenetic energy lends a distinct touch to an otherwise familiar sound.

After the release of the their 2014 Fat Possum debut Loose Ends, which received plaudits from Pitchfork, Stereogum and others, the pressure to sell records amid an industry-wide shift to streaming services eventually found the band without a label.

Three years later Francisco the Man have returned with something new. Recorded over a period of a year and a half, the new record, Bodies in the Sun, finds the band thriving without the pressures of the debut, no costs, no recoups, just fun.

Bodies in the Sun will be out Aug 4, but you can already listen to it in full below!
