Australia’s Miyazaki! (don’t forget the exclamation mark) have a new EP out called “I’ll See Myself Out”. Not only does the title immediately inform you that these guys are well-behaved, the five songs on here also show them to be somewhat functioning adults that like to bust out jams about ‘hating your past jobs, hating your current job, hating not having a job, and awkward conversations with co-workers where you have to pretend to be interested in sports.’

These subjects are sung about by vocalist/guitarist Luke Seymoup, who has a voice that made me think of John K. Samson and that dude from the Front Bottoms. He is backed up by bassist Josh Sommerfeld and Mitchell Pasmans on drums and their sound lingers somewhere punk, emo (the good kind) and indie. If you want that in band names, think of a cross between the Weakerthans and Smith Street Band. Or to make it even more simple, it’s good.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
