Last year I was pleasantly surprised by Wraths’ self-titled EP. This year, I’m pleasantly surprised by Wraths’ self-titled full-length. This one comes courtesy of Bird Attack Records, and sees Wraths re-utilizing the six songs from the EP and rounding them out with six new bangers.

In case you didn’t know them yet, Wraths is a no-frills punk band consisting of vocalist Jim Lindberg (Pennywise), guitarist Steve McCall (1208), bassist Chris Kranes (1208, The Darlings), and Andrew Murphy (The Darlings) on drums. Together they pay tribute the punk bands of yesteryear with short blasts of pent-up aggression and scorching riffs. Tracks like “Oh God”, “Back Of The Line” and “In Control” are as fast as they are raw and will take you back to a time when listening to punk rock could get you beat up by hippies and when the Warped Tour was still just a bad dream.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
