It's been a while since we did an interview with a band we found on vi.be, an online platform for young Belgian bands that you should all check out. But to make up for the lack of interviews the last couple of month, we picked a really good one... Teen Creeps everybody!

PRT: Who are you and what would you like to tell our readers about yourself?
Teen Creeps: We are Teen Creeps from Ghent, Belgium. We are a power trio playing indie rock with influences from nineties era indie and punkrock. We’ve been around for about a year now, played some shows and released our first EP in the beginning of 2014.

PRT: Can you give me the history of the band in the form of a tweet?
Teen Creeps: Ex-hardcore guitarist and indiefolk bandmembers teamed up for new noise rock band. Songs were written, an EP was released and shows were played #teencreepshistory

PRT: If Teen Creeps were the lovechild of two other bands, which bands would have had sex and which position were you conceived in?
Teen Creeps: That is a really weird question. Dinosaur Jr and Superchunk having a go at it? I don’t know.

PRT: The first time I heard “Work It Out” I thought you sang ‘let’s twerk it out’. Have you ever considered twerking it out onstage?
Teen Creeps: Not really. But the name of the soundfile of that song was actually ‘Twerk it out’ during the recording.

PRT: You are working on a new release now. What can people expect from the new songs?
Teen Creeps: We will release two songs as part of a split 7 inch with our friends in Mind Rays. The new songs are more up tempo and punkrock-influenced, I would say. They’re still poppy, only with blastbeats this time around.

PRT: Two of you play in Horses as well where you recorded your first album with Sophia’s Robin Proper-Sheppard. Who should produce the first Teen Creeps full-length: Bob Mould or J Mascis?
Teen Creeps: 2/3 of the band says Bob Mould, the other third cannot understand this because J Mascis is the man.

PRT: What is the best thing to have happened so far since you started Teen Creeps?
Teen Creeps: There’s a few things we never expected to happen. Like we were featured in Humo, one of the biggest magazines in Belgium, got to play some nice festivals and shows. But the coolest thing has got to be that we got to meet Thurston Moore and gave him our cd. We were totally nervous fanboys and he was super friendly and relaxed.

PRT: What is one thing about your fellow band members that you have managed to keep under wraps until now?
Teen Creeps: Ramses (our drummer) has a very weird way of pulling down his pants. He pulls the sides down first, apparently. Also, Bert is from Limburg.

PRT: Where can people catch you live in the next couple of weeks/months?
Teen Creeps: These next months we are playing Antwerp (august 28, Kievitsnest), Booty Rave Festival (september 6, Kasterlee), Rampscenario (september 13, Hechtel) and of course Incubate (September 16, Tilburg).

PRT: Why should people come to one of those shows?
Teen Creeps: Because we are more a live band than we are a studio band. There’s always more energy live than on record. Also, they can buy our EP from us live and there are not that many left.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
