It’s WWII and London is being torn apart by Germany’s constant bombing raids. A group of orphaned children are forced to move from their homes and are relocated to Eel Marsh House under the watchful eyes of guardians Eve (Phoebe Fox) and Jean (Helen McCrory). Supposedly, they’ll be safe there. Guess they didn’t talk to Daniel Radcliffe about the Woman In Black…

It doesn’t take Eve long to figure out that something is wrong with the house. One of her first clues is the fact that the children in her care start to disappear one by one. Yeah, she’s clever that way. With the help of a handsome pilot stationed nearby (played by Jeremy Irvine), Eve starts looking into what is happening and soon discovers that it may not be a coincidence she ended up at Eel Marsh House.

I gotta hand it to director Tom Harper though… he made things look good. That’s about the only thing I can be positive about though. The story is slow, the characters are boring and the movie as a whole is just not very good. It is however a prime example of a sequel that is trying to cash in on the original movie’s success.
