Album Reviews
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks, OFF! is back with a new album. This one is called “Wasted Years” and just like their self-titled album, it comes with sixteen songs. The only difference is that this time around they’ve really let themselves go and wrote songs that - when put together - add up to a whopping 23 minutes!
Other than that these guys are still blasting through their material with Keith Morris as the hardcore version of Grumpy Old Men, lyrics that cut directly to the point (there’s simply no other way… if they were to put any fluff in the lyrics, the song would be over before Morris gets to the chorus) and Dimitri Coats’ simple yet highly effective riffs over a pounding rhythm section. It’s hardcore the way it sounded back in the day and I am liking it.
Sure, the surprise has worn off by now and not all of the songs on here have the same impact as a punch in the gut but it still sounds good and as long as they keep writing songs like “Void You Out” and “No Easy Escape”, I am going to keep listening.
