Autistic Youth is not a new name in the world of punk rock. However for me, never having heard of the band, it was something new entirely. Their third album Nonage took three years to finish so I was quite excited to see what sort of punk they’d throw at me.  I have to say that at first, I wasn’t exactly impressed nor disappointed. The catching up-to-speed melodies and great guitar play were good enough to make up  for the repetitive nature of their songs and the usually inaudible lyrics.

Not a great start. Getting past the five first songs, it got better though. The guitarists really started to stand out, the melodies got more complex and slowly but surely my head started banging too. It took a little getting used to and the lyrics remain a mystery to me in most songs, but I happily whip my hair back and forth while jumping around playing the air guitar like a pro. That’s some fun punk right there. Just not the best I’ve heard.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
