Let’s get this out of the way. I’m not the biggest ska-punk fan out there. Sure, it’s fun enough for a song or two, but after that I’ve pretty much had enough upstrokes and horns for the day.

That said, Philadelphia’s Behind Deadlines are doing a pretty solid job on “Status Quo” and fans of Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake will find plenty to enjoy on track like “Biochemistry”, “Laid Off” and “Sink Or Swim”.

Surprises? None really. It’s ska-punk. There’s only so many directions you can take that sound. But these guys attack their songs with plenty of vigor and energy, making “Status Quo” a nice addition to any ska-punk fan’s record collection. And with fifteen songs, you get more than enough bang for your buck.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
