Album Reviews
Burrito Wars. It could be the name of a reality show where you let four bands fresh off a tour fight to the death with the winner getting a lifetime supply of burritos. Or it could be the name of a 4-way split between Bastards Of Young, Success, Civil War Rust and Western Settings.
Success released one hell of an album earlier this year with “Radio Recovery” and Western Settings’ “Yes It Is” was no slouch either. Both bands continue down the same path here with “Ricky And Me” and “Brain Wars” respectively, two solid songs in their own right.
I hadn’t heard of Bastards Of Young yet, but damn… that “Boys Like Us” sounds pretty damn good! Easy on the ears with a very strong and catchy chorus. Definitely going to need to hear from these guys. Well, them and Civil War Rust because “Jump Rope” deliver yet another tasty morsel of pop-punk with some nice dual vocals.
So there you go… four bands, four songs, four cuts of catchy pop-punk on one split that is a joint release between La Escalera Records, Wiretap Records and Def Cow Records!
