Germany’s Captain Asshole was started primarily as an excuse to get together and drink beer. You could of course do that without writing songs, but at some point that could become kinda sad. So starting a band is the more preferable option. Enter Captain Asshole.
‘What An Awful Life’ comes with twelve tracks of the gruff-voiced pop-punk variety that The Fest’s line-up is built on. And guess what? These German dudes will be flying into Gainesville later this year. If you are planning on going as well, then you might want to go and check these guys out. Sure, there are other bands out there where it’s equally easy to shout along with the self-deprecating lyrics while taking in the melodies and big hooks. But they don’t have a song called ‘Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Had A Really Good Soundtrack’ or songs like opener ‘Kyoto Wa Doko Nan Da’ or ‘I Literally Have No Idea What The Fuck I'm Doing,’ which are excellent in the midwestern punk rock kind of way that I love.
