“Machine Gun” is the name of the debut album by Center Of The Sun, a shoegazer outfit out of North Carolina. The album itself is named after a song off of Slowdive’s classic album “Souvlaki”. That should already give you an idea…

After a short intro, “Cease” blooms open in a blast of warm noisy guitars with vocalist Ally Hoffman’s hazy and slightly hushed vocals draped over them.  90’s alternative and indie-rock influences pop up all over the place as well, making it all just that little more dynamic.

It’s something they repeat throughout the other five songs (with five songs and two interludes this is actually more of an EP) and it works every single time. Yes, it’s slightly depressing but hey, why not cut yourself why listening to something that is pretty!

Whether you’re into My Bloody Valentine or Silversun Pickups, feel free to check out Center Of The Sun. They released “Machine Gun” late last year and it kinda slipped under everyone’s radar but it’s definitely worth a listen!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
