Parts Of A Flower
6.0
Dear Boy is an indie band from Los Angeles. It’s not hard to figure that one out. The big, sun-drenched melodies are pretty much a giveaway. But there is a slightly darker vibe that resonates throughout the four songs that make up “Parts Of A Flower” that is distinctly British. I think it’s the rain there. Makes everyone a bit more miserable.
Anyway, it all sounds pretty enough with plenty of echoes of The Cure, The Smiths and other full-time mopers, but none of the songs stuck with me afterwards. It’s a bit of a shame, because – even though it’s not very original – Dear Boy do have a good sound.
