Is that a keyboard I hear in opener “Don’t Pretend You Didn’t Know”? Yes, it is and it sounds pretty great. Don’t worry though, Mascis & co didn’t end up in a weird experimental phase like I experienced two weeks ago and where I woke up on my balcony wearing nothing but a loincloth, after having knitted an anatomically correct brain. But let’s not diverge too much here.

Except for that synth, “I Bet On Sky” is yet another sturdy and well-crafted Dinosaur Jr album, their third since the band’s reunion. Mascis still awes poetically about being alone and empty before shaking yet another awe-inspiring solo out of his sleeve and the other guys in the band do exactly what is expected of them… rock the fuck out!
