Following up on last year’s “Someone I’d Like To Know” EP, Chicago’s Earth Girls step it up on “Wanderlust”, the band’s first full-length. If you were looking for a great garage-y power pop album, you can stop your quest. You’ve found it.

Led by guitarist/vocalist Liz Panella, Earth Girls blast their way through twelve tracks that come with the kind of vocal melodies you only need to hear once to get them lodged in your brain. These often come with backup vocals in all the right places to further enhance the experience. Meanwhile the drummer is banging away Ramones-style, while frenzied riffs jitter all over the place making sure these tracks still pack plenty of punch.

Picking favorites is next to impossible. I couldn’t even tell you whether it’s the melodies or the punky vibe that makes me want to listen to this album over and over again. Let’s just call it a day and say it’s a combination of both that equals awesomeness.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
