Alberta garage-y punks Fist City deliver more sloppy, poppy tunes on “Everything Is A Mess”. Produced by Ben Greenberg (The Men) at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, this is a noisy mess that’s being smothered in reverb and fuzz with the vocals straining to be heard. From the danceable “Bad Trip” and “Surf’s Up” to the more searing “Fuck Cops”, this is guaranteed to please fans of The Wipers, Viet Cong and Sonic Youth alike.

Things do become a bit same-y in the second half and I’m fairly sure the album would have been better off without the five (!) interludes that fail to add much (if anything), but that still leaves plenty to enjoy.
