Half Hearted Hero gets to call Massachusetts home and has been around since 2005. “Whatever” is the band’s third release and while the title does sound decidedly half hearted, it’s not exactly heroic.

Neither are the songs on here… if you’ve been going at it for seven years, one might expect a little more than the same old tired pop-punk clichés. Yet they’re all here right down to the obligatory acoustic song. With the pop-punk revival in full effect, there are plenty of other bands out there at the moment that do pretty much the same thing… only better. And while it may seem like a fun idea to give your bass a metallic clang in the studio, it just sounds plain annoying.So does the vocalist come to think of it.
