Hooton Tennis Club is a relatively new band out of Liverpool, the city where the Beatles formed. You know, that band with Paul McCartney? The guy that is going to get huge thanks to his recent collaboration with Kanye West?

Anyway, back to Hooton Tennis Club... the two songs on this 7” songs come with the kind of lazy pace and fuzzy guitar sound Teenage Fanclub was revered for and there’s no real reason why we should feel any other way about these four guys. Producer Bill Ryder Jones (formerly of The Coral) gave the songs a nice sheen without overdoing it and the result are two lo-fi pop gems. If they manage to whip up an entire album like this, I think we’re going to be for one hell of a debut!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
