Nowadays there are over a million subgenres in punk… oh wait, someone just invented yet another one. It’s understandable that one sometimes can forget that back in the day punk was about getting all of your frustrations out there by screaming in a mic and playing as fast and as loud as you could.

DC’s Loud Boyz didn’t forget though. Just look at their name, which also doubles nicely as a mission statement. On “Tough Love, Hard Feelings” they play their hearts out, paying tribute to their city while also making sure you know that between the five of them, they own quite a number of releases that came out on SST.

Never spending more than two minutes on a song, these guys cram all the fun, energy and aggression they can muster in short blasts. This means that the album is over in less than twenty minutes, which is cool because 20 minutes is plenty long for an ass-whooping.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
