Ontario’s New Design have got a good thing going on. Their latest release ‘Where I Need To Be’ - out now via Sunday Drive Records - might come with just four songs, but it feels a lot more expansive than you’d give a release that clocks in at just over 15 minutes credit for.

The foursome - consisting of vocalist/guitarist Jeffrey Lee, guitarist Joseph Angilletta, bassist Melissa Angilletta and Zachary Cattapan on drums - take cues from the twinkly guitars and use of dynamics of American Football and Moneen and couple it to the post-rock atmospherics of Moving Mountains on cuts like the title track and ‘So Wait’. And closing track‘We Both Know’ brings back memories of The Juliana Theory.  Put all of that together and you have one hell of an impressive EP.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
