On the second album by Manchester’s all-girl outfit PINS the songs are once again bathed in teenage ennui and the same kind of cool that the Dum Dum Girls possess. It’s garage-y indierock with a wisp of punk and it definitely all sounds very promising. At first.

Whereas songs like the spunky “Young Girls”, “Dazed By You” and especially “If Only” are solid right up until the end, most of the other tracks on here start off in a good way but then turn into a snorefest about a minute in. I’m not sure if it’s because of the vocals, the fact that everything drones on or a combinantion of those two, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot happening. The songs just kinda lump around like a sulking teenager basically and after a while you just wish they’d slam the door and fuck off to their bedroom already.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
