Out of Toronto comes a band called School Damage who just released a 4-song 7” called “Get Weird”. These weird, damaged punks believe in the snotty kind of approach to pop-punk that Screeching Weasel is known for and they do it in such a fashion that it brushes up against hardcore from time to time in the same way that Night Birds bangs them out. At the same time these guys never lose sight of melodies and they incorporate plenty of sing-along parts as well.

It’s been done before… buzzing guitars, drums that keep plowing on, snotty vocals with lyrics about that job you don’t like or the girl you can’t have but hey, I’m 34 and I still haven’t grown tired of it. Especially when it’s done this good.
