Sleep In is a new band around Eric McNeils of The Progress, an emo-rock outfit that never quite made it to the big league and only became more recognized after its members moved on to bigger things, most notably Evan Weiss with Into It. Over It. These guys just released their debut album “Settling” through Hide Away Records. It comes with ten relatively mellow songs that sound both poppy and mature. The guitars on this baby come with gentle, fluid riffs, supported by snappy drums and warm vocals that always explode in the chorus. The whole album made me think of a more bouncy version of Into It. Over It with some Jimmy Eat World thrown in there.

My only qualm with “Settling” is that pretty much all of the same songs follow the same formula, making it hard to distinguish separate songs. But that’s something they can easily work on seeing as the talent is most definitely there.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
