Album Reviews

San Diego’s Western Settings are back with a new 3-song EP! And just like on their previous releases, they totally deliver.
Both opening track ‘That’s Pretty Good’ and ‘Duckets Is Tight’ manage to feel instantly familiar and at the same time different from what the band has delivered in the past. Western Settings is still the same gruff melodic punk rock band we have come to know and love, but it’s like they are trying out new vibes and growing ever more comfortable in their own skin. And it suits them well. Things take even more of an unexpected turn with the title track, an organ-enhanced acoustic affair that shows a completely different side of Western Settings. Who knew they could do delicate this well?
At just three songs, ‘Agnus’ feels too short. But consider it an appetizer for what’s to come. Which is a full-length album that will be out later this year.
