Album Reviews
After releasing a handful of EP’s, Florida’s You Vandal figured it was about time for a full-length. That debut album is out now via Jump Start Records and is called ‘I Just Want To Go Back To Hell’. It comes with a dozen neatly fleshed out and fully accomplished pop-punk songs that come with all the bells and whistles. Well, minus actual bells and whistles.
Album opener ‘Quite The Actor’ is a pretty good indicator of what these guys have in store. It’s a slick and melodic tune that still packs plenty of punch and it comes with one helluva catchy chorus. It is pop-punk with a bit of a throwback vibe to the late 90ies/early 00’s, but You Vandal somehow manage to avoid most of the clichés that come with the genre. Most of the other songs on here are equally worthy of your time. Okay, maybe not every single one is as good as the Weezeresque ‘Collapse’, ‘Down For Whatever’ or album closer ‘Still The Same’, but that still leaves plenty to enjoy on ‘I Just Want To Go Back To Hell’.
