Finland's punk pop band Time Flies, which made its comeback at last year’s Skepufest (skate punk festival in Helsinki) after a long hiatus, is swiftly releasing new music. In September 2024, they recorded a five-track EP titled Back on Track, with the first single, "Attitude," released in early November. Now, it’s time for "Bobby."
"'Bobby' is a straightforward, melodic punk rock song — we´re going right back to our roots. We originally intended to release it with the original lineup already in the 90s, but better late than never," says drummer and vocalist Kim Kannussaari.
Time Flies was an active Finnish punk pop band from 1990 to 1997, featuring Olli Linna (vocals, guitar), Esa Linna (bass, vocals), Tomi Korhonen (guitar, backing vocals), and Kim Kannussaari (drums). During its prime, the band self-released two EPs and two studio albums on the Vaasa-based Kråklund Records, led by the band Klamydia. Both the EPs and the albums—Bubblegum Punk (1994) and Happy Smile (1995)—quickly sold out after their release. The track "Space Aliens" from Happy Smile also appeared on the K-Tel Punk+ compilation. In 1996, Time Flies recorded an album under the working title Pumporganbank, but it was never released due to the band’s eventual disbandment. Olli Linna passed away in 2002.
Since 2013, Esa, Kim, and Tomi have performed together as a trio.
