As if Modern Baseball wasn’t busy enough between nonstop touring, releasing surprise EPs and pulling off a whole Killers cover set, drummer Sean Huber has formed a new band called Vicky Speedboat alongside friend and fellow Philadelphia musician Will Lindsay (of W.C. Lindsay fame). The duo’s debut EP, Two Years No Basement, is a glorious six-song excursion into anthemic indie punk a la the Gaslight Anthem and Japandroids. Today, we’re premiering the EP’s final track, “Weathering Bell,” (Listen HERE) which is a gruff-and-gritty track about a girl with “Xs on her hands” who is “drinking with the band.” Huber explains the idea behind Vicky Speedboat:

“This band was something that was always supposed to happen. We had talked about it for years, sometimes serious, sometimes late at night in half-jest. But it was when we found ourselves traveling through different countries, slumming it with new friends and strangers, sleeping in a backwards rental car driving on the wrong side of the road, and wandering aimlessly for hours in strange places that we decided now was the time. The spontaneity and sometimes sketchiness of these experiences inspired the music, and all we needed to do was get in a room together and make it happen.”

Vicky Speedboat’s Two Years No Basement EP will be released on November 27.
