No Sleep Records is proud to announce the latest addition to their ever-growing family – the Michigan-based pop punk outfit Hot Mulligan.
"Signing to No Sleep Records was something we never expected to happen," says vocalist Chris Freeman. "We were listening to No Sleep artists before we even started writing music together, and to be with a label that has put out so many influential records is honestly incredible."
The Midwest has been home to a booming emo scene since the early '90s, but Hot Mulligan is not feeding on the nostalgia. Though their harmonies are reminiscent of fellow Midwestern emo icons The Promise Ring, the five-piece is totally fresh take. Imagine the wandering guitar of Into It. Over It. with the emotive, passionate vocals of The Wonder Years.
On their newest release, Opportunities, Hot Mulligan showcases their earnest approach to songwriting by mixing ferocious pop punk riffs with the tenacious vulnerability of indie rock. Unlike their predecessors, Hot Mulligan plays with the fragile line between heart-wrenching and hip-shaking as guitars intertwine with whimsical synth lines.
With No Sleep's digital re-release of Opportunities, Hot Mulligan plans to record their debut LP this summer. The band currently has a number of tour dates scheduled across the U.S.
