There were seven of us. Each one of us had a reason to be there in that tiny dirty backroom in the heat of the Florida summer. We were loosely sewn together in the beginning, maybe by some warped joke or divine inspiration.
Some of us friends or friends of friends, some of us whispers in the dirtiest corners of the city and some of us prayers for help to be answered. Later though, we were bonded in a few ideas but the one that resonated in all of us “You can’t escape your future”. It was our rallying cry, the thing scratched into walls and spray painted in alleyways. We were and would become the future personified.

There’s only so much neon that you can take in a place that spits in the face of what we thought was good here.
Right about now you’re probably asking yourself what could be good in a low rent, mosquito swarmed city, that is surrounded by a massive snake and alligator infested swamp? The basic rules came first, plucked right from the most logical place for a group of misfits, from a Nirvana song called “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter”. Four rules to hold us all together, our 7 separate stories, the 7 separate reasons to do what we were doing, and a million reasons to put everything on the line.
Hate your enemies
Save your friends
Find your place
Speak the truth
If we could keep these things pure and simple, then how can we fail, right? Well that and drinking the Cuban coffee that’s served out of a graffiti covered bodega’s side window. Now, that’s exactly what any self respecting, sleep deprived group needs to keep on mission.
