Russian Circles have premiered the third single off of their forthcoming album “Guidance” today; listen to “Afrika”, which follows previously premiered songs “Vorel” and “Mota” on the album’s track listing, here. These three songs exemplify Russian Circles' ability to examine the polarity of quiet and loud, complexity and simplicity, ugliness and beauty and offer great insight to the incredible dynamics found on Guidance.
Due out August 5th from Sargent House, “Guidance” finds Russian Circles carrying on in their quest to conjure multi-dimensional dramatic instrumental narratives and scout out new textures from their respective instruments. Russian Circles’ guitarist Mike Sullivan, drummer Dave Turncrantz, and bassist Brian Cook, with the help of engineer/co-producer Kurt Ballou, were able to capture a broad tonal palette and wide array of emotional motifs into a cohesive journey through the tumultuous corners of human existence. Pitchfork said, "Dave Turncrantz’s swift, melodic drumming and Brian Cook’s distorted bass merge into a rhythm section with the dynamics and power of a band twice their size. Mike Sullivan’s layers of guitars, meanwhile, are dazzling, recalling both the staccato plucking of a string orchestra and the droning buzz of heavy machinery.”
See Russian Circles on an extensive North American headlining tour in support of Guidance that spans from August through October and features Cloakroom and Helms Alee on select dates. Additionally, Russian Circles will tour in Europe in October and November with Helen Money. More info below.
