UXO is a project that features the combined efforts of noise-rock/experimental metal touchstones Chris Spencer (Unsane) and Steve Austin (Today Is The Day) on vocal and guitar duties.

Rounded out by Aarne Victorine (Vattnet Viskar) on bass and Patrick Kennedy (Ironboss) on drums, the quartet will release a self-titled album via Reptilian Records on 1/29. Self-recorded mostly at Austin Enterprise Studios (in Maine), the seven songs on the album are some of the most powerful and dark music recorded by either of these artists.

Musical compatriots since being label-mates on the Amphetamine Reptile label in the early 90’s, this project was long in the making. Spencer relates of the formation "“I had wanted to do something with Steve for a long time. He had recorded an Unsane single way back and I had been thinking that it would be great to work on something with him. I found myself heading to Maine and I called Steve up".”

Austin echoes the sentiments saying “"Unsane was a big inspiration to Today Is The Day when we started playing. To me Chris Spencer has one of the best voices in Hardcore, Noise and Aggressive music. So, for me it was a huge deal to get to jam with not only one of my heroes, but one of the dudes I relate to the most on Earth".”

Speaking on the writing process between the two Austin revealed "“Chris (Spencer) and I just jammed and took turns leading the writing of the songs. He would make something awesome up and I would add to it. I would come up with riffs and he would add to it".” After that initial week of writing, Austin brought in Kennedy and Victorine and they worked on the tunes from their separate studios. Bouncing files back and forth for several months, a process Spencer concludes "“bordered on obsessive for a winter".”
