Needles//Pins began in Vancouver in 2010 as an excuse for three friends to hang out. The band have signed up with Mint Records and Dirt Cult Records to release their new LP, Goodnight, Tomorrow, on June 30th, but you can see the Mike Babiarz-directed video for a new track now.
"This is a video about 3 friends in dire straits, ready to go down with the ship. Ending on their terms, playing music and taking Military grade psychedelics, of course." says bassist Tony Dubroy of the video, adding "We turned our jamspace into a bomb shelter and shot this in two 14 hour days. It was hell."
Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, The Pack A.D.) recorded Needles//Pins new LP in Vancouver at Rain City Recording and it shows an organic growth from their previous releases. The voices are gruffer from hundreds of shows and there is a richer appreciation of their influences and roots at play in the song writing. Clrvynt says "Needles//Pins love power pop, but their version is in the corner of bands like Leatherface -tough and hard-nosed, but with a keen sense of melody and a particular focus on a damn good riff. Vocals are clean, in much the same way that Lemmy's vocals are as well, and there is an overall muscularity to the whole thing. Yet by definition, you could call this -gulp- pop punk."
The band is gearing up to promote Goodnight, Tomorrow with heavy touring across Canada and The US as well as festival appearances at Ottawa Explosion this weekend and Sled Island.
